I work at our town's middle school

As a latchkey counselor which is really cool.
We would go in the gym everyday
And do crazy things in every way.
But as of this week,
Our options of fun are looking pretty bleak.
Since basketball season just began
The coaches are telling us and the kids to scram.
Now we barely have anything to do
And with winter coming we don't even have a clue!
We could play board games or go on the computer.
Or we could all just sit around and stare at each other.
On Tuesday at work a thought came to me:
"Why don't we make the most of what we have?" was my plea.
The World's Hardest Game is what we always play
And try to see who can get to the highest level at the end of the day.
Plenty of shooting and strategy games to go around
And whenever someone wins they always make a loud sound.
So for now they'll have to suffer
Winter's long months and the computer games to buffer.

What a cute poem! It is great that you are finding the best in this bad situation. I hope you guys find other fun activities to do with the children during the basketball season. Also, I like all of the pictures in your poem!
ReplyDeleteIt must be hard keeping the kids entertained but playing that game can keep anyone busy! Very good poem :)
ReplyDeleteI work at latchkey too but we are still able to use the gym, but it's always hard trying to keep the kids entertained! We don't have computers at Berkley so we usually just play different games or watch movies but in the end it always works out just like it did for you! :)
ReplyDeleteLatchkey sounds fun... it's so cool how you can spend time with little kids! I really do hope that you find something to do everytime boredom strikes, though :)
ReplyDeleteI think it is really funny that you guys play the worlds hardest game because I also play that. It's sad that the basketball team took all your space for the kids to play. I hope that later things go back to normal for you.
